Major Falana (rtd) was my namesake, and although I knew who he was (another story for another day), I never actually met him until a few years ago at a social event. Busola introduced me to him and he immediately linked me to my late mum and her brother (my uncle, with whom he'd had an abiding friendship over many decades) and filled some gaps for me about my mum's childhood as he recalled it.

An ebullient man in so many ways. I remember his dance steps on that day and how impressed I was with his demeanour. I would have wanted to dredge some more information from him about those early days he shared with me.

Sad he has passed on, but he left a mark. And, at the end of the day, that's the important bit.
